We all have bags in which jewellery or other precious things come. this bag actually came with a bottle of spirits believe it or not! Here below is the bag</div>

it's a pale shade of gold and I've been wanting to buy a clutch that colour for a while now and haven't found the right one. So while cleaning my bits and bobs, I found a few things which could turn this into rather attractive potli. </div>

This string of 'pearls' I found at my local fancy store. these are treasure troves of all kinds of things! The disc is actually from a toran I bought a few years ago from a Mumbai railway market. Below are the tools I used</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8eOAzyh4uqy-AJJiLPqiGeB0MxszTtxZFbCILetI0Pv70A0k_PTMv86Zk9Su7Oy3Syf7kUElH_9eG01-DT4DEhP273tOb91Grq97Vrw3qklvKgpdU5c_eXEfdc7kQNhEjfn6_9loA4Di/s1600/IMG_1986.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8eOAzyh4uqy-AJJiLPqiGeB0MxszTtxZFbCILetI0Pv70A0k_PTMv86Zk9Su7Oy3Syf7kUElH_9eG01-DT4DEhP273tOb91Grq97Vrw3qklvKgpdU5c_eXEfdc7kQNhEjfn6_9loA4Di/s320/IMG_1986.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since the pearl string has links, I put the end links into a bigger link and stitched the chain to the fabric. You will need to stitch it at various points so that it doesn't tear with a bit of weight. Then I used the earring loop shown above to keep the three strings together and stitched the tiny eye to the fabric as well. . Next, used fabric glue to stick the toran part to the centre on one side of the bag and stitched it in places as well. The key thing to note here is that everything has to be light.. these kinds of bags will tear with very heavy jewellery bits.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my new old blog! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This holiday season I bring you my handmade Christmas tree, with handmade ornaments and here I will give you an idea of how to make some of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a look at the tree which is a foraged branch from the community garden</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvwOr6_Vyi10zji2tH3pAseFCibywKCasS4E-jIIQOxHY-Ia6J2FprfvQ9ihzY9kt-JhLhlRJc0WBZDoBbLARLUJlCHmFdrYGkPyOJeymcgIzPa0ZtC-dtj2eCVNz9-DidM0Iu2AQ0E35G/s1600/8F777151-0E83-4AC2-91A2-5599E437651C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvwOr6_Vyi10zji2tH3pAseFCibywKCasS4E-jIIQOxHY-Ia6J2FprfvQ9ihzY9kt-JhLhlRJc0WBZDoBbLARLUJlCHmFdrYGkPyOJeymcgIzPa0ZtC-dtj2eCVNz9-DidM0Iu2AQ0E35G/s320/8F777151-0E83-4AC2-91A2-5599E437651C.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Here I have a scrap tassel, my favourite wire and lace dragonflies, my son’s paintings. and some felt and burlap patchwork ornaments.<br />
First up, the body. Take a little twig, a slightly twisty part makes it more real!. Use Fevicol and stick a bead for its head and eyes. I have stuck an evil eye 🧿. Next, take jeweller’s wire which is available in most craft shops and wind it round to the twig.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0lDe-AW-3u5xbQ5lFTQgIgk7KiOEbVeiLqjXZRsezOA7ctnLuWElfb6JcrfE7rsUmx_P3emWmACNRosgDvZA94rJNcJZMLDWjs8Cg-80AeqTLv48OxhbU-78YG2CiCfmMcCGY8q2TOmYb/s1600/CA57E679-5758-451C-9828-A91E498958E3.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0lDe-AW-3u5xbQ5lFTQgIgk7KiOEbVeiLqjXZRsezOA7ctnLuWElfb6JcrfE7rsUmx_P3emWmACNRosgDvZA94rJNcJZMLDWjs8Cg-80AeqTLv48OxhbU-78YG2CiCfmMcCGY8q2TOmYb/s320/CA57E679-5758-451C-9828-A91E498958E3.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You should end up with something like this. 🖕🏽. Then apply a line oh fabric glue on each wing </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Buntings have a sense of festivity about them... I made this with things I bought from Micheal's. It is simple to make and can be finished in under an hour. Here is the finished product, rustic as is my style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQPabEBMfjAj0eZA57_6EznvU2dhrmJKQBwwbRS_dY7CiPCht_vuiea3s7fqHPY3r_bE3_cOVVIaoPcMYM4j0WP7rLOt83Aof_z5qgpH6TJkvEcpgATTp-s_Rf7w2k7n4-nQTb7LnKADjQ/s1600/bunting+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="338" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQPabEBMfjAj0eZA57_6EznvU2dhrmJKQBwwbRS_dY7CiPCht_vuiea3s7fqHPY3r_bE3_cOVVIaoPcMYM4j0WP7rLOt83Aof_z5qgpH6TJkvEcpgATTp-s_Rf7w2k7n4-nQTb7LnKADjQ/s640/bunting+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Burlap mat stock is a very handy thing to have and is available in just the right size at Micheals. I cut the mat stock to a size which was just a bit wider than the ball and long enough to hold both the ball and brad. Then I just did a running stitch in black thread. Perfection is not really necessary in the stitches since the whole feel is rustic.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So inspired was I by the Mademoiselle chandeliers from Lladro that I thought one up while organizing my pantry! Had to smile at the completed figure... I guess that is what quirky designs are all about!!<br />
<br />
Here is my maiden with Digger the doggie whom I brought back from Stamford, UK<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE_bqlzWPsAiBCPYQIFWrsuW5kVDSvRGNVr3WKOpb7_C8KF7mVVBiRr5okMPdGJjW7Q1cakLvvQxgjlOJt8LszBcl01cGiwAXeIKxyZE-Asa8jHKWwQvriF9kw9scQ9Kb21DcKIBVnD9zy/s1600/t2t+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE_bqlzWPsAiBCPYQIFWrsuW5kVDSvRGNVr3WKOpb7_C8KF7mVVBiRr5okMPdGJjW7Q1cakLvvQxgjlOJt8LszBcl01cGiwAXeIKxyZE-Asa8jHKWwQvriF9kw9scQ9Kb21DcKIBVnD9zy/s640/t2t+4.jpg" width="387" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And with Tomasino whom I brought back on a visit to the local Swarovski store..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyX4btGFRjmCLFIMoVYLFCNwOxZSv0-K-EUXSmWRTkO1SUfPfKJRxevlUXVhfUCASg-CaAXbQNyZEwxVMfwxesgA_8LN5oVgRUNkVj19lgu3Kc1OOOOgiB22lOJYmafj5NQpg7Szzp2aLi/s1600/t2t+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyX4btGFRjmCLFIMoVYLFCNwOxZSv0-K-EUXSmWRTkO1SUfPfKJRxevlUXVhfUCASg-CaAXbQNyZEwxVMfwxesgA_8LN5oVgRUNkVj19lgu3Kc1OOOOgiB22lOJYmafj5NQpg7Szzp2aLi/s640/t2t+3.jpg" width="392" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Who suits her better you think? I added a battery operated light at the bottom for added effect here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a look at the material I used to assemble her... The bell shaped glass is from a candle stand that came apart..a bottle and cup from the pantry and some baubles from my craft cupboard.. I didn't want to paint it all evenly - for me it is all about telling a story with the things I had lying around. Unvarnished, Un touched up, she is so full of character!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1IY_1SGdpTEhCDBBQQhCngrE_B92TWEluUT6SSYPEEO6IxC_tombQG7MLTnwMR6sRHtVeWAFOJ5hyphenhyphenKHYFbzs3zJy7xzwvRXezYwt0TgO9-p3-Cnp4shv-zX_qeYSGEKSvdKsVdWO4sMDn/s1600/t2t+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1IY_1SGdpTEhCDBBQQhCngrE_B92TWEluUT6SSYPEEO6IxC_tombQG7MLTnwMR6sRHtVeWAFOJ5hyphenhyphenKHYFbzs3zJy7xzwvRXezYwt0TgO9-p3-Cnp4shv-zX_qeYSGEKSvdKsVdWO4sMDn/s640/t2t+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I just put one thing on top of the other and added a crocheted coaster to finish this look.. Quirky decor is all about having fun and when you look back at your work it should bring a smile to your lips. This did for me.. and you?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Go ahead, grab a few things, out them together and make up a story, a collage of sorts. </div>

Sometime back I received the yearly calendar from Lladro and was blown away by all their collectibles. Their chandelier, though had me spellbound. I would love to have this piece in my home by it is out of my budget so I set out to make my own rustic version with IKEA battery operated lights and a few beads and baubles from my craft basket. In today's world of smartphones and tablets, the watch, unless designer, is less and less used. I have a few lying around the house which keep time well but are not used. Here I show you how I have re worked them into my home decor so they still tell time but from a different backdrop. First I had my local watch store guy remove the metal straps to make it more amenable to this transformation.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have used blue tack to fix the watch face and the backdrop (I will probably go with the funky monkey finally!) I suggest this method because you will need to change the battery sometime and blue tack makes it easy to take the watch out when needed.<br />
<br />
Quite simply stick the watch face on the chosen objects to create quirky and fun timepieces. Here it is on a mini watering can...<br />

Like everyone else I love having flowers all over the house so when I was recently introduced to BloomNation, I was inspired to showcase a few fun fresh flower arrangements. If you haven't heard of them before, they are a <a href="https://www.bloomnation.com/" target="_blank">flower delivery</a> service that supports local florists through their online marketplace.<br />
<br />
<div>
This first one is my favourite - Framed!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Simple and effective, this lighting solution is assembled in 10 minutes flat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikX-dWcAzsghimcDbcTtlfRGdmncT0efNHQv_B-Axn4YCTwcjgtYr5Zw0lj0Ds3q868e4ahQLplIdiXf0-4uynY8p31Vn1VcDfhSKqOJQphF3ufV6BLc53u2IU97RW3-iX7XXsb4wHHtas/s1600/miniature+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikX-dWcAzsghimcDbcTtlfRGdmncT0efNHQv_B-Axn4YCTwcjgtYr5Zw0lj0Ds3q868e4ahQLplIdiXf0-4uynY8p31Vn1VcDfhSKqOJQphF3ufV6BLc53u2IU97RW3-iX7XXsb4wHHtas/s640/miniature+12.jpg" width="624" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have used </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
-Miniature paintings done on thin marble</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- an ordinary square sided bottle and </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- battery operated serial lights (the only ones I had)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You could use</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- any set of images copied on a transparency</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- a square sided bottle or vase</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- batter operated or even electric lights of the correct length.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Assembling this works the same way and is easier if you have a vase so the neck is large and easy to work with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are the miniatures. The fourth miniature doesn't fit so I have to get a vase with larger squares (in time!)</div>

When I relocated to a city away from my office, I had to create a home office in a desk unit in my rented home. I sure miss the chatter of co workers and office lunches but I took this as an opportunity to combine work and my blog right here on my desk. The decor on my tiny work space changes now and again and when <a href="https://www.wework.com/" target="_blank">WeWork </a>invited me to share my work space I was delighted! (it gave me the chance to redo a bit of my tiny desk.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMwT_CY6WXEAluFPE1MvCMQpsAkVqT_IVaES1EMVUrXJtvkUlbax4uCG1yE2Qs7fbDxgecHqrLnrp-inCUQLhemohOe3RQEwqa2_dFjzfo6lL7tid7WWufgq0ATTvGhy70yU_jdGWkHIDd/s1600/my+workdesk+1+resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMwT_CY6WXEAluFPE1MvCMQpsAkVqT_IVaES1EMVUrXJtvkUlbax4uCG1yE2Qs7fbDxgecHqrLnrp-inCUQLhemohOe3RQEwqa2_dFjzfo6lL7tid7WWufgq0ATTvGhy70yU_jdGWkHIDd/s1600/my+workdesk+1+resized.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is my tiny work desk. This is where I plan people's travel and where I think up ideas for my blog. When I visited the WeWork website I straightaway got a few decor ideas! <a href="https://www.wework.com/locations/" target="_blank"> Such amazing shared work spaces</a>! I love humour and I am a great fan of Gerald Durrell, the British author and Mario Miranda, the late Goan cartoonist. Mario's poster features prominently on my desk. This is a permanent fixture in my otherwise varying decor.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo-21ZTfdcRbeu1Ty2xaYUxTiXL36u3RxlPjewUrPTxkhRVrr0rtQSM_Zc9we5aqrbKjyv1RvCsvUuEwAmOkEd3aXzJCjKLsOPmZ5QayfB51SP5wzJMby0jyXUud3EIOznv2kX6A8B7U64/s1600/workdesk+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo-21ZTfdcRbeu1Ty2xaYUxTiXL36u3RxlPjewUrPTxkhRVrr0rtQSM_Zc9we5aqrbKjyv1RvCsvUuEwAmOkEd3aXzJCjKLsOPmZ5QayfB51SP5wzJMby0jyXUud3EIOznv2kX6A8B7U64/s640/workdesk+3.jpg" width="608" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a sugar container I picked up in Mario Gallery, Panjim Goa.I turn it round ever so often and every picture brings a smile to my face.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfZ9OOWMdDkJQQVXY1ZB7PpLDcG08qmohgDvtOamqFGFoFn-ANTqxKH9iFHXcxXFslr7z03vPj9C8MQvrvyGzCJV1KkiPzXU4ToB1H5tn8vi_hKsh3Es-pEetuV-TXhBOy1wwqyY3fXUNH/s1600/my+workdesk+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfZ9OOWMdDkJQQVXY1ZB7PpLDcG08qmohgDvtOamqFGFoFn-ANTqxKH9iFHXcxXFslr7z03vPj9C8MQvrvyGzCJV1KkiPzXU4ToB1H5tn8vi_hKsh3Es-pEetuV-TXhBOy1wwqyY3fXUNH/s640/my+workdesk+2.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A little something from my craft cupboard - here is the vintage coaster I made where my late night tea mug sits; my fave mini chest of draws and a lighting option I created with some miniature paintings from Rajasthan, India. That is the subject of my next blog post. Love the block print stamps...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgahxsNPltj7hWefeJvdNDR5RA1mSYwMRJ1jKndLUZCDZw2UcRcZm035Uob3_p3yrasWlmvNt2xd9YmbUp-2YNffh8SxRikiI2vF09FOs_xHvIIhG2UEK_ARGMtC4a42zHVuS3dQicnEJkO/s1600/workdesk+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgahxsNPltj7hWefeJvdNDR5RA1mSYwMRJ1jKndLUZCDZw2UcRcZm035Uob3_p3yrasWlmvNt2xd9YmbUp-2YNffh8SxRikiI2vF09FOs_xHvIIhG2UEK_ARGMtC4a42zHVuS3dQicnEJkO/s640/workdesk+4.jpg" width="442" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally my inspiration - my travel collectibles. Since my work involves hand crafting itineraries I travel a bit and look for things that take me back to the countries I have been to. This is but a small fragment of the entire collection - I am quite the crazy collector! Norfolk Lavender, Zell am See, Prague, Istanbul.. ...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have to plan my summer holiday now! Ciao!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
All you need are interesting coasters, a good adhesive and a sting of coloured stones or pearls; anything that you have lying around at home that matches the bag and coaster.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0qYOPf0jCoLhui1ExNGfdXoGnNkOEJ12QVtMyvvRiHKFEfxNKEmndXcAHSXhBGFA0_9CbbTP1Rt8qBw8vo9w96p9RUmDiXq2h2f8FqihiZIUDaKtv48bdv2ZjP61LyfP-WGXE0rz8A8mT/s1600/coaster+on+bag+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0qYOPf0jCoLhui1ExNGfdXoGnNkOEJ12QVtMyvvRiHKFEfxNKEmndXcAHSXhBGFA0_9CbbTP1Rt8qBw8vo9w96p9RUmDiXq2h2f8FqihiZIUDaKtv48bdv2ZjP61LyfP-WGXE0rz8A8mT/s640/coaster+on+bag+1.jpg" width="608" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Assembling this takes very little time. Just stick the coaster in the centre and the string around it and it's done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is easy to assemble little wall hangings using native style coasters </div>

If you have old embroidered pieces, combine them with old fabric and burlap to make vintage feel coasters. These are cross stitch pieces I dis a while ago and have been repurposed here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBHaeQZ6gJNWj_N12a0Mtgou9NkwnDOFt5njDfCJdrJnpL6kE-U5tZnsarO_eCqXtPIJLg7Euv2m1f30BIwgDM8H0PYLyFCib1B_R7iHRqyvEYhr3RtZG-6Ps_KgGoubTpm2_tvLzVyESY/s1600/handmade+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBHaeQZ6gJNWj_N12a0Mtgou9NkwnDOFt5njDfCJdrJnpL6kE-U5tZnsarO_eCqXtPIJLg7Euv2m1f30BIwgDM8H0PYLyFCib1B_R7iHRqyvEYhr3RtZG-6Ps_KgGoubTpm2_tvLzVyESY/s640/handmade+2.jpg" width="570" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a look at the material you will need - the embroidered patch or edging, burlap, old fabric, fuse bonding paper and threads in different colour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cut fuse bonding paper to the size of the embroidered piece.</div>

Attach attractive magnets to glass without fuss or mess. All you need are the magnets and basic magnets which look like donuts.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwwGP0EhbRfiizt0Q-GzfDOvYzr6S1-DhFcMigrsn4T_ZHWzji7NFXjGD5HiE3AdAod5FELc93l0d4IOkYdZFgtW4SlRa8YquA1-PvMZCUxAoca-o97y2-k657X5jZ1SzWvxWf0VWsHNGJ/s1600/magnets+on+glass+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwwGP0EhbRfiizt0Q-GzfDOvYzr6S1-DhFcMigrsn4T_ZHWzji7NFXjGD5HiE3AdAod5FELc93l0d4IOkYdZFgtW4SlRa8YquA1-PvMZCUxAoca-o97y2-k657X5jZ1SzWvxWf0VWsHNGJ/s640/magnets+on+glass+1.jpg" width="417" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Clean the glass well, hold the basic magnet on one side of the glass and the fridge magnet on the other. That's it! </div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2s-KG2fyTgSrnymswVtJaiwdCJkgUmMR5hN2drKtVmaZAKn4i3FHpqlpHYwG67bxLJ-tbAHPk-CF_qDyqdLT0UFW4s5bJNDfFFkNsn7v6-hKws4YKxBrfGzZTKPbuTe3zJ-jD0g_N4ZeW/s1600/magnet+magic+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2s-KG2fyTgSrnymswVtJaiwdCJkgUmMR5hN2drKtVmaZAKn4i3FHpqlpHYwG67bxLJ-tbAHPk-CF_qDyqdLT0UFW4s5bJNDfFFkNsn7v6-hKws4YKxBrfGzZTKPbuTe3zJ-jD0g_N4ZeW/s640/magnet+magic+1.jpg" width="466" /></a></div>
<br />
Here you see magnets on both sides of the glass. Since like poles repel in magnets, if you find the magnet pulling away from the glass turn it round. The other side will move towards the magnet on the other side of the glass.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJgGN3xqaJGNa-mSdU6rk6MyCJVZgbEYKhEL1ZSk2ReZJuNx_kChTFGAwV1EaXfPUzi1gcfy9wrxzICeDNkYU932q4BIz-YOv5QHz7KxjXhZIVOquab4BoxlGuCgAV0m_avhqHZvmsFExz/s1600/magnet+magic+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="618" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJgGN3xqaJGNa-mSdU6rk6MyCJVZgbEYKhEL1ZSk2ReZJuNx_kChTFGAwV1EaXfPUzi1gcfy9wrxzICeDNkYU932q4BIz-YOv5QHz7KxjXhZIVOquab4BoxlGuCgAV0m_avhqHZvmsFExz/s640/magnet+magic+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
To hold heavier magnets, even clip ones like below, stack two or three magnets together, opposite sides facing and put the magnet clip on the other side.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPuGW9jmrFg08LMaE2FjcwKinmJ-G7KgdKa-6-fwOaHz4csu5U1DJMhWgmx8_BbWfArx6ihTBUwSit63e5cHDAPsxz_pYIuVd2eCT3PpzBbyxKBmmXAquGFvrofyLh3cHoS1iTomf47i48/s1600/magnet+magic+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPuGW9jmrFg08LMaE2FjcwKinmJ-G7KgdKa-6-fwOaHz4csu5U1DJMhWgmx8_BbWfArx6ihTBUwSit63e5cHDAPsxz_pYIuVd2eCT3PpzBbyxKBmmXAquGFvrofyLh3cHoS1iTomf47i48/s400/magnet+magic+2.jpg" width="361" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tip</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For this to work, the glass cannot be very thick and the magnets cannot be super heavy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Hi there!
<div>
Yes I have been missing for long, long time ...apologies for letting life overwhelm me but that's me I guess. So much to do. I have to redo my home tour page and even revamp the look of the blog..well for now I am into door charms, since we have a few more doors and windows in our new house. They just add a little colour and sound to our home and of course take me back to the places from where I bought the pieces or the whole!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is the first one - old buttons, the lovely heart from a shop now closed; takes me back to that delightful place bursting to the gills with ribbons, beads and baubles... and of course that endless roll of ribbon... this is one from my craft basket...</div>
<div>

I have put up masks and still have a few on the walls of my home. Could,t resist picking up a couple on my recent trip to Bali but I was determined to find another way of displaying it. After more than a month, I found an interesting way to do this
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3BeR1PXUixTIQEMYM_RRWKsq_hpnOkzAz8_ujCU1J4nX7rSoKSapdZ93wNKPu6etnx6Xgx144n17ZfSrqZ-I6MmaKJNri6kiO1bP7v3URWbV060YR7PZfNaYmB-4A7sMMwho4HR_UTTdv/s1600/mask+on+cupboard+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3BeR1PXUixTIQEMYM_RRWKsq_hpnOkzAz8_ujCU1J4nX7rSoKSapdZ93wNKPu6etnx6Xgx144n17ZfSrqZ-I6MmaKJNri6kiO1bP7v3URWbV060YR7PZfNaYmB-4A7sMMwho4HR_UTTdv/s1600/mask+on+cupboard+2.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before I hung the mask on the cupboard knob, I hung a golden tassel which looks like a sort of Golden neck ornament or beard even... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like decor which puts a smile on my face every time...</div>

And I tug gently at the tassel to open that shelf which is not opened every day.. so how do you like my take on decor? Write in and tell me</div>

Hello there! Long time no see. Work got the better of me I guess but here I am with another post.. I finally managed to start clearing my books and craft cupboard and dug out some stuff... here is a look at what I assembled with a vague idea of wanting to cover up parts of the cupboard which looks like a storm hit it ever so frequently.<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-5Iun_YJfZW6igsg4h8QWFxIQEJUlD2p9yodMNIU57s6SUl-zwCEtYje-pAhupnib5lVQpMGKOr_Ny4O1hxRNNnh1Rfzu78BLwwV50g4lwlJwY6nQvxUuStkhpdzPzj8D4yIf9-R9GxfK/s1600/pic+in+bamboo+mat+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-5Iun_YJfZW6igsg4h8QWFxIQEJUlD2p9yodMNIU57s6SUl-zwCEtYje-pAhupnib5lVQpMGKOr_Ny4O1hxRNNnh1Rfzu78BLwwV50g4lwlJwY6nQvxUuStkhpdzPzj8D4yIf9-R9GxfK/s1600/pic+in+bamboo+mat+1.jpg" height="422" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is the stuff, some beautiful Vietnamese embroidery which they sell roughly pinned on hard card, some handmade paper sourced long ago from the local speciality stationer and bright colourful bamboo mats from Vietnam. So I set out to put them together as only I can - in a complete freewheeling style where imperfection rules because I am not patient and find it difficult to hold the ruler exactly straight. Happily the embroidered patterns were all of different sizes and the use which I had in mind is quite forgiving! You will see what I mean at the end of the post.</div>

finished with the handmade paper of similar or contrasting colour depending on what I had... I have five of these and left a couple with edges unfinished for certain uses while finished three of them which I put up in the said cupboard. As you can see it hides quite a bit of the mess and leaves quite a bit in plain sight. Well I must get on with the clean up and make everything visible easy on the eye.. quite a task if you ask me</div>

I picked up a few pictures done in Indian tribal style at the local exhibitions.Gond is a type of tribal art with origins in one of the largest indigenous communities in Central India. Well to cut a long story short, I picked up a drawing I liked from the Gond artists at the Dastkar Mela. I was not keen on framing it since there isn't much wall space left in our house anyway. So I waited till I had an idea of where to put it so that we would all see it often and I must say that we all look at our family scrap book often. It had a rather ugle cover so I wrapped it in pretty grey paper

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Such a pretty work of art... I just worked the tiniest pair of scissors I could find on this picture and cut it out so that I could forever preserve it on my scrapbook cover and here it is</div>

Been busy, busy with work. So I have here an extension of the previous post - a bangle bag I made real fast for a gift of some lovely bangles from Damini that lovely store. I used cloth backed felt and for the first time used magnetic clip clasps or whatever you call those. There are some lessons to be learnt here and some changes to be made which I will incorporate these changes in the next one.

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsUgYSMI7GGXYsN-4VD6v5OijBvEHQaU4PoBaOodfts5f2XIssTT17WUizSvlpqdivs_BtZ3snMOki9AJsw61ZuPI-B5LRsZ-WUOAPp49HHytNRiBW5u9ITEx8_CKja2k2MFvZAr1_18b2/s1600/bangle+pouch+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsUgYSMI7GGXYsN-4VD6v5OijBvEHQaU4PoBaOodfts5f2XIssTT17WUizSvlpqdivs_BtZ3snMOki9AJsw61ZuPI-B5LRsZ-WUOAPp49HHytNRiBW5u9ITEx8_CKja2k2MFvZAr1_18b2/s1600/bangle+pouch+1.jpg" height="546" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is so very easy to do, just cut a length of felt and fold and trim for the flap. That is not the best trim ever so that needs fixing. Below right you can see the magnetic clasp and here are those pretty tanjore bead patches which I have attached since this is a gift. </div>

I have been looking for a soft pouch to put my cheques and sometimes notes in while carrying them in my purse. It doesn't help that cheques cannot be bent of folded etc so I decided to make a funky envelope to carry these.

I made this from a foam sheet which is folded and held together by what are called "brads" which I bought for no particular reason a while ago.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I cut out a rectangular shape the eyewhich is a bit more than double the size of the envelope, trimmed an edge for a foldover and simply poked in the brad. If you are not able to get it in, hammer gently with the hole maker in an eyelet kit.</div>

<div>
The pouch comfortably holds cheques and notes, but the reverse side shows up the other end of the brad, so I cut out strips from the foam sheet and stuck them to cover the edges and the brads. To hold the envelope, I stuck velcro dots on both sides and voila a soft pouch is ready in just 40 minutes. </div>
<div>
I would have lied to stick a washi tape with a nice pattern instead of strips of foam sheets on the reverse but I didn't have a nice one so...what do you think?<br />
<br />
Here is another version made of a stronger version of butter paper which came with some wrapping.<br />

This is amazingly easy as the paper was tough and pretty and it is easy to use scotch tape to make the envelope. As a finishing touch I added a little bling in the form of a tanjore foil piece.</div>

This project combines my love for local art and the celebration of having received a jar of Mod Podge from my sister. It is simply not the same as the mixture of PVA glue and water. Ok, so here is a tray which I had painted a long time ago in a very simply embroidery design. I prepped this one for a more local flavour transformation.<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCbnCEWuBK58t4RlWinrGSgDsJww5WXCWYfxkT3Np5Fnp2hCppsBO-C4Y7QrvX5fiu4FrEJRGwdbd8BZFjAx27Dzc1QWkQSXjmN9sgBCd7xPvkAVJFXI9o45nsnz1ZwjaHAaw9LFU433at/s1600/decoupage+tray+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCbnCEWuBK58t4RlWinrGSgDsJww5WXCWYfxkT3Np5Fnp2hCppsBO-C4Y7QrvX5fiu4FrEJRGwdbd8BZFjAx27Dzc1QWkQSXjmN9sgBCd7xPvkAVJFXI9o45nsnz1ZwjaHAaw9LFU433at/s1600/decoupage+tray+1.jpg" height="448" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can see it is old and worn and stained. So, I decided to take out that trusty can of matt black paint and give it two coats. Here it is at the end of 1 coat.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZ73ykkCEuBZ8fn7wBnQVKXl8LJiC53dyC4WCxnNiwJGOnBplu6_2K5HYqVe8m23Gb-emsu6mZIy7xMOzPjV136sM1vJJZLHG-_C-OxuDF7sGlu0VgL3Jp4bE-hkGCkV79l_LuxbLT9MF/s1600/decoupage+tray+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZ73ykkCEuBZ8fn7wBnQVKXl8LJiC53dyC4WCxnNiwJGOnBplu6_2K5HYqVe8m23Gb-emsu6mZIy7xMOzPjV136sM1vJJZLHG-_C-OxuDF7sGlu0VgL3Jp4bE-hkGCkV79l_LuxbLT9MF/s1600/decoupage+tray+2.jpg" height="440" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I stuck the print of a painting of a local artist - traditional art at its simple best using Mod Podge. I gave this five coats allowing for drying time in between.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSlxDxyKswHXFVGIBjB7uupgWuKgwwAUEOPZqA9bnrr1lfDzqErUBI4NYg0EShws7rTnpbDOvQ-X4AuU5HBeHQwl5OkIQxEqKUFAeIemxWNoRBc2vIIk6Cm6nn_9K7-pG_Vd22m1jTbgXb/s1600/decoupage+tray+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSlxDxyKswHXFVGIBjB7uupgWuKgwwAUEOPZqA9bnrr1lfDzqErUBI4NYg0EShws7rTnpbDOvQ-X4AuU5HBeHQwl5OkIQxEqKUFAeIemxWNoRBc2vIIk6Cm6nn_9K7-pG_Vd22m1jTbgXb/s1600/decoupage+tray+3.jpg" height="452" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I just cleaned up and touched up the sides of the tray and gave it a coat of spray varnish. Nothing more is required for this rustic tray. I let the sides be as they are. Wish I had access to matt gold washi tape but couldn't find that so I let it be...</div>

Bastar art is justifiably famous. Rustic and gorgeous it embodies the simplicity of everyday village life in India. So when I saw these panels I just grabbed them by the handful with no idea whatsoever of what I was going to do with it.
<br />
<div>
Here I present my own versions of Bastar in everyday home decor. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK4K7mScejufRQDxUWymnfMDdi_ZPkef95WmXTWJXcKhZQYyO0aWAiPa3ftb2c24ZtzJwUR_EAEcSRv_rE8NGSu3F8YLfaDQTza6d8JrDF6ZJHwWgpZqH3SK-x6xi4fpOal6tR6FPED0ZF/s1600/bastar+string+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK4K7mScejufRQDxUWymnfMDdi_ZPkef95WmXTWJXcKhZQYyO0aWAiPa3ftb2c24ZtzJwUR_EAEcSRv_rE8NGSu3F8YLfaDQTza6d8JrDF6ZJHwWgpZqH3SK-x6xi4fpOal6tR6FPED0ZF/s1600/bastar+string+2.jpg" height="446" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Strings of matt gold beads are very versatile and here I restrung them on a gold jewellery wire and attached them by just tying them in an ordinary rustic knot to the little Bastar panel.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVenPSH9K8GHLAMTHCtakL_jG4MexKLts1Rlb_0OxwYPl7e35KUWzp8oIT9uEXoYaNAEgzA2weo1bxUGsc1d-aweN-IuXyYH34FWlUQXgaVwvMAejb5i_zcfTJ-ZjrKzHAspzbupyaFHS/s1600/bastar+string+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVenPSH9K8GHLAMTHCtakL_jG4MexKLts1Rlb_0OxwYPl7e35KUWzp8oIT9uEXoYaNAEgzA2weo1bxUGsc1d-aweN-IuXyYH34FWlUQXgaVwvMAejb5i_zcfTJ-ZjrKzHAspzbupyaFHS/s1600/bastar+string+3.jpg" height="640" width="606" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I purposely used a long string because it looks so ornamental when you wrap it round. Use them as napkin rings </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixjAwBRgSGsmDZrAbdhVrECcgooqcQvD889sQfQ7ULFJxri8n2b68pL508OuUTwJQuUwXR7LJeOOKkHJ88FU1t7U_WJZIw1QWz6y3Jijv4EoYbOySlgADC0mIpF7tDlr-ubS0nRF57kKMQ/s1600/bastar+string+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixjAwBRgSGsmDZrAbdhVrECcgooqcQvD889sQfQ7ULFJxri8n2b68pL508OuUTwJQuUwXR7LJeOOKkHJ88FU1t7U_WJZIw1QWz6y3Jijv4EoYbOySlgADC0mIpF7tDlr-ubS0nRF57kKMQ/s1600/bastar+string+1.jpg" height="640" width="622" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
or curtain ties or just hand it ornamentally on lampshades, the choice is yours.. Since I am binging big time on Tanjore beads I decided to fuse Bastar and Tanjore and see how that came out. Here is a picture. You tell me what you think of it...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hello there! I hope you have all had a great start to the New Year.. I have been smitten by tanjore bead decor for some reason and I thought I would post this idea. This aluminium knocker was lying in my trunk where things like this lie from the time they are bought or gifted; till I figure out what to do with them. In my excitement I forgot to take a picture of the original knocker until after I applied a coat of matt black to it. Sorry about that but here is the picture at the end of the first coat<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwHGkQ9zaHUBRIqB3jS-jIvEOXgTQSmebZlEm1ycLeIQOxKGRMcrDIjhPa1bDtEi0-PBlmxHC8lkHH0L5pq_vVRnmpGPqwJzEu_VT2H7MkM12A64M5T3gPLf9P-FhNT7OkSnHw0w7sTFZz/s1600/Tanjore+knocker+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwHGkQ9zaHUBRIqB3jS-jIvEOXgTQSmebZlEm1ycLeIQOxKGRMcrDIjhPa1bDtEi0-PBlmxHC8lkHH0L5pq_vVRnmpGPqwJzEu_VT2H7MkM12A64M5T3gPLf9P-FhNT7OkSnHw0w7sTFZz/s640/Tanjore+knocker+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tanjore is normally done on gold or brass but I chose black to showcase a rather minimalistic tanjore bead decoration. So I gave the knocker two coats of black enamel paint in matt and started but gluing on a mango motif ( I got this from someone who sells a lot of tanjore work since I don't know how to do tanjore work)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEistQXr9KOlEG_USD5-6DVJkdvcHBrkeDJcLajl62RtBip3NTRMs7lnRYPUzTQ14XFPgAoZ1E-nTwMW9XSqar0-29WH88Z3yw0TyN7dLLumnuQgHSOzsuW5HRPa_4alsjiGC8Aw4XTS9e1O/s1600/tanjore+knocker+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="556" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEistQXr9KOlEG_USD5-6DVJkdvcHBrkeDJcLajl62RtBip3NTRMs7lnRYPUzTQ14XFPgAoZ1E-nTwMW9XSqar0-29WH88Z3yw0TyN7dLLumnuQgHSOzsuW5HRPa_4alsjiGC8Aw4XTS9e1O/s640/tanjore+knocker+3.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And then started to stick tanjore beads - which are rather easily available - in motifs I thought would complement the mango. So here is how that went... I like how it came out eventually.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, do write in and let me know how you like it. You could also use this to hang towels or napkins.</div>

This is probably the last post for the year 2013...
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I bought this black terracotta pot off a potter in Kodaikkanal. Love the shape of the pot, but it is a terracotta pot like any other. So I thought why not bling it up for the New Year Parties.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPF_XrI_yuWRvhb5rH4OhdDm68K_i0Tu5df3BpcuvuGz14I052pjwjd-RHh_n-PUB5wOcrDvYfxJ8r8OkIYzBBHD9LIrX0CirLMcYdyhFROXirkGTXquonwxZyzwr_WxDAlhC3t5eGV3Zi/s1600/stone+encrusted+pot+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPF_XrI_yuWRvhb5rH4OhdDm68K_i0Tu5df3BpcuvuGz14I052pjwjd-RHh_n-PUB5wOcrDvYfxJ8r8OkIYzBBHD9LIrX0CirLMcYdyhFROXirkGTXquonwxZyzwr_WxDAlhC3t5eGV3Zi/s640/stone+encrusted+pot+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the pot and the coloured stones I intended to use to embellish the pot. For those who live here, it is easily available at aquarium shops by the bag. I used a hot glue gun to stick these stones. Here it is midway through the project.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xbMuewMm8CBFcYvtUEyQwLBNBCJFWvulSgmTosSXE0CpN8PDD1UhBvJAFoDzBcq99BCzG_pMXV63Y3mQBqG5PJQyl0HukQTjiKo6U2Np7ox9mzXB4Vqw999vxUMbdwxS9o0anzbVp25l/s1600/stone+encrusted+pot+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xbMuewMm8CBFcYvtUEyQwLBNBCJFWvulSgmTosSXE0CpN8PDD1UhBvJAFoDzBcq99BCzG_pMXV63Y3mQBqG5PJQyl0HukQTjiKo6U2Np7ox9mzXB4Vqw999vxUMbdwxS9o0anzbVp25l/s640/stone+encrusted+pot+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here is the finished product. I spray varnished it to finish and let it dry for a day. I use it to corral the different plus and adapters which we need for the different gadgets we use - I can never find them when I want one. Hope this way they stay in one place! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggECmBBLvcmdTEWdoWI82tZjgJ-bEUkP8PL3X2m9Unex7kONoKqfbtjILNfe9WDGsbSA2PnNMndht65yPeVHWktzBagg9Mwio7nzGEAxsLpUn5lZ3E_BQNYcld_i-NxA6AgTpmCXzylT58/s1600/stone+encrusted+pot+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="536" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggECmBBLvcmdTEWdoWI82tZjgJ-bEUkP8PL3X2m9Unex7kONoKqfbtjILNfe9WDGsbSA2PnNMndht65yPeVHWktzBagg9Mwio7nzGEAxsLpUn5lZ3E_BQNYcld_i-NxA6AgTpmCXzylT58/s640/stone+encrusted+pot+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some tips for those of you who wish to try this at home - Blackboard paint which is easily available in all hardware shops is great to use to paint terracotta and gives a matt finish which I like. I have given this pot one layer of blackboard paint because the pot is rather old; I rather like its pitted appearance - gives it some character. Use this to hold objects other than kitchenware. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As I wind up for the year and sink into New Year prep, here are a few things which I have made and shown on this blog and which take the day to day wear pretty well. I test pretty much everything I make and then make more stuff hoping I will open a store on Etsy... maybe in 2014!</div>

Here are two old cross stitch patches which I stuck on to laundry baskets using the velcro dots which I showed on my cushion post ( the last one). They've been there for a while and I love looking at them. I don't think I can do that cross stitch anymore!<br />

Here is the glass tray which I blinged up with some brooches and earrings. It sits by my bedside and holds my accessories till I put them back where they belong.<br />

The hair brush container I made using coasters sits on my son's minimalistic dresser on that grunge style tray. And finally here is my custom 2014 calendar. I have been fascinated by the velcro dots I came across in - of all places - Health and Glow which is more a cosmetic chain store. But these dots are the handiest craft tool I have used. Here I show you how to use it (or a square of velcro cut from a length ) to change the way your cushion looks in a few minutes.
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv9yJuZUEEox_tywMS7MlFV5KVdMYGdkv6xgMaoduOSyTm7rgjz9o5CNSyQvSgfJyMvtJz78mfMkyO8d22Nz2e7fD41RiUGVoS3ffdkJ1EFXTvULPvU63RTX4S_2ucHh0jwlly9ACrZxJW/s1600/changing+cushion+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv9yJuZUEEox_tywMS7MlFV5KVdMYGdkv6xgMaoduOSyTm7rgjz9o5CNSyQvSgfJyMvtJz78mfMkyO8d22Nz2e7fD41RiUGVoS3ffdkJ1EFXTvULPvU63RTX4S_2ucHh0jwlly9ACrZxJW/s640/changing+cushion+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here I have prepared a fine painting in silk to be attached to the cushion. Even though the velcro dots are self stick I added a layer of fabric glue so that it holds strong. If you are cutting lengths of velcro from a roll, it is a good idea to stitch it on so that it can be washed easily and frequently.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO2CB_qEJKE2ri-Md-gHthJgIF5t8z8oJUblXdhLeobeYYduSdsB1TjFZshoSSlzLHtCkIV_1KKxjF8jN-so9WnniQpg5MsnVMbYPiD_u5Ib-mfpIFwf2cioib2uzIcCjxmJa6XYrfssJq/s1600/changing+cushion+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO2CB_qEJKE2ri-Md-gHthJgIF5t8z8oJUblXdhLeobeYYduSdsB1TjFZshoSSlzLHtCkIV_1KKxjF8jN-so9WnniQpg5MsnVMbYPiD_u5Ib-mfpIFwf2cioib2uzIcCjxmJa6XYrfssJq/s640/changing+cushion+2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here I beautified the painting and added the corresponding velcro dots.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsoCQT8_KQZ2d9J8KlHYkybDq8vfOccvfuJwVP_ae0iL-YQySXG5kuD50-ahyphenhyphenfeOIKMaU3QRVCRG3viojLywfnoPh9_yvFURLwF4FjrrpXkj-SWiMI5ujRsZM_DWmtHBPKlwW9PwqBuE57/s1600/changing+cushion+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="532" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsoCQT8_KQZ2d9J8KlHYkybDq8vfOccvfuJwVP_ae0iL-YQySXG5kuD50-ahyphenhyphenfeOIKMaU3QRVCRG3viojLywfnoPh9_yvFURLwF4FjrrpXkj-SWiMI5ujRsZM_DWmtHBPKlwW9PwqBuE57/s640/changing+cushion+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just velcro the picture on the cushion. This works very well with paintings and other material which cannot be washed like the ones in the picture. Just remove the painting and wash the cushion cover. If you have a collection of similar sized pictures, paintings or other craft material; prep them and velcro them to cushions for an instant, different look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here I must add that due to the type of material used in the accent piece (it is not washable) and due to the fact that I have added embellishments this work is best done on an accent cushion in a less trafficked area. Thanks to my readers for pointing out the practicalities of the decor ideas I put out. </div>

Love the angels which I made from bells and beads. Unfortunately I didn't have natural wood coloured beads, but these make pretty blushing angels don't they?</div>
